Therapy
FOR DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND GENERAL LIFE TRANSITIONS
Often there is not an identifiable event that led to feelings of depression or tremendous sadness or anxiety and panic it may have just become something you experience certain days and don’t know why or how to address it.
Individual therapy does not need to be event specific, many people utilize this process as a means of self-care, to reevaluate what is working and what is not in their lives, to navigate a large life transition or relationship change, to better understand their coping strategies and develop new ones. There is no right or wrong reason to attend therapy.
Individual therapy gives you a safe, non-judgmental environment to explore your current and past emotions and experiences that may be leading to uncomfortable and negative emotions and to process them and eventually heal and move forward with the tools to deal with difficult emotions and the ability to enjoy the positive emotions.
Areas treated:
Depression
Anxiety and panic related disorders
Non suicidal self-injurious behaviors
Relationship and family changes such as divorce
Major life transitions including moving to college, transitioning into the work force, becoming a parent
FAQS
How much does therapy cost?
I am an out of network provider for all insurance plans. I accept credit cards, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Health Reimbursement Account (HRAs), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), cash and check. I require a card on file at all times. Payment is due at the time of service.
Session fees are $165 per 55 minutes
At your request, I will provide a superbill at the end of each month which you are able to submit directly to your insurance provider for direct reimbursement of any eligible out of network benefits you may have.
How long will I be in therapy?
I understand this is a time commitment as well as a financial commitment. I do not take either of those for granted and I am constantly reassessing for progress and discussing when I feel we can lengthen our time between sessions.
As I was once told by a mentor “our goal is always to put ourselves out of business, clients should heal and move on from us!” I truly operate from that perspective.
Why do you not take insurance?
Insurance providers require "medical necessity" for treatment - which means they only cover specific diagnoses, and do not acknowledge the many other valid reasons people wish to pursue therapy: personal growth and exploration, self-care, preventative mental health care, and improving relationships.
Insurance providers limit the number, length, and frequency of sessions (this should be decided between you and your therapist) and require counselors to share mental health records with them.
